Privacy Policy
Punu has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The app downloads travel guides from our server but sends nothing about you. What you save stays on your device.
This is the same policy you find in the app under Settings.
What stays on your device
Saved places, saved dishes, saved phrases, saved journeys, your preferred currency, your display mode and whether you have seen the introduction are stored only on this device. Deleting Punu deletes them, together with the guides and photos it downloaded.
My Emergency Info
If you fill in My Emergency Info, it is stored only on this device, encrypted while the device is locked, and left out of iCloud backups. Punu never sends or shares it; it leaves your phone only if you show it to someone. You can edit or delete it at any time, and deleting Punu deletes it.
Travel guides and photos
Punu downloads province guides and photos from punu.pulsefu.com, a server that Cloudflare runs for us. Like any download, each request includes your IP address, the time, the file requested and the app and system version. Punu sends nothing else: no device or user identifier, no cookies, no location and nothing you save or type. We keep no access logs or analytics for this server; Cloudflare may keep technical logs under its own privacy policy. Downloaded guides stay on your device so they work offline, and are not backed up to iCloud.
Camera and photos
Punu asks for the camera only when you use Lens. You can also choose a single photo from your library without giving access to the rest. Text is read on your device and the photo is not saved or sent anywhere.
Location
Punu asks for your location only when you choose to search near you in Nearby. It is used for that search and is never stored or shared by Punu. Picking a city or a province on the map never uses your location.
Microphone and speech
Punu asks for the microphone and speech recognition only when you tap a microphone in Talk. While it listens, what is said is turned into text and translated on your device. Nothing you say or type in Talk is recorded, saved or sent to Punu, and the conversation is gone when you close Talk.
Apple services
Nearby searches go to Apple Maps. Lens and Talk may download language packs from Apple to translate on your device, and Talk may download Apple's speech model to recognize speech on your device. Tips are paid through the App Store: Apple handles the payment, and Punu never receives your payment details or keeps a record of your tips. Apple handles this data under its own privacy policy.
Other apps and websites
Directions, phone calls and source links open other apps or websites, which have their own privacy practices.
Feedback by email
If you email us, we receive your address and what you write, plus the app version, iOS version and device model that you can see and remove before sending. We use them only to reply and to improve Punu.
Children
Punu is made for travellers and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If Punu starts handling data in a new way, we will update this policy and its effective date before that change ships.
